Undergraduate

Many ANU undergraduate programs allow student the possibility of spending time in CVS labs to check out vision research. In particular Botany and Zoology (BoZo), Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Institute (BAMBI),Psychology and Engineering. Students with backgrounds in physics and applied mathematics have also worked in CVS areas and gone on to Honours and PhD programs within CVS.

Honours

Honours students often do the research component of their degree with members of the large research institutes of the ANU, they are often called research schools. These institutes and the teaching faculties are either in the ANU College of Science or the College of Medicine and Health Sciences. Honours degrees are, however, administered by the teaching Faculties. Many CVS students go through the Neuroscience Honours program but other areas such as Psychology, Zoology or Engineering are also possible. Students can apply for a range of Honours Scholarships. ACEVS offers special Honours scholarships for students of its Chief Investigators.

Graduate

In Australia most students proceed from an Honours degree to a PhD, but MSc degrees are possible, and often can be upgraded to a PhD with further research. Within CVS all graduate degrees are by research, i.e. there is no course work, except for Graduate Diploma students who may do coursework in an Honours program. Many CVS graduate students come through the Medical/Neurosciences graduate program, but may also do graduate degrees in Psychology , Zoology or Engineering in part of CVS. Applications for scholarships and admission make students eligible for a number of scholarship programs. ACEVS offers special PhD scholarships for its Chief Investigators and they should be contacted about those.
